International Epilepsy Day will take place on the 9th of February 2026 and while our planning for the big day is well underway, there are still ways you can get involved in the lead-up to the day!
Share your story on our channels!
Throughout the years, our #EpilepsyDay campaigns have been further amplified by people sharing their stories of life with epilepsy directly on our social media channels and website. These stories not only help with raising awareness, but also can be of great support to others within the epilepsy community to help realise that they are not alone in their own journey with the condition.
If you are interested in sharing your story on our channels, please get in touch with our Advocacy & Communications Manager by emailing pmcgeoghegan@epilepsy.ie.
You can watch and read previous examples of personal testimonies that we have shared for International Epilepsy Day and across the year by visiting the 'Life With Epilepsy' page on our website.
Volunteer with Epilepsy Ireland
In a new development for this year's #EpilepsyDay, we are planning on coordinating engagement/information and fundraising stands in local communities so the public can learn more about epilepsy and the work of Epilepsy Ireland. This will give our volunteers an opportunity to share their own personal experience of life with the condition, helping to further amplify the key message of our campaign, as well as encouraging people to learn more about epilepsy and to show support for our work across Ireland by making a vital donation.
If you're interested in helping with this new aspect of our International Epilepsy Day activities and willing to give us a few hours of your time in the weekend before #EpilepsyDay and on the day itself, please fill out the following form on our website (when completing form, tick Other and quote #EpilepsyDay 2026).
Become a Media volunteer
Epilepsy is an individual condition, and it is only through individuals living with the condition day-to-day, that we can showcase this fact. Usually, in the lead up to #EpilepsyDay and on the day itself, we receive increased attention from the media, seeking to feature personal stories about the lived experiences of epilepsy – both from the perspective of people living with the condition and their family members. When we receive these requests, we call on our media volunteers to potentially take part if they are comfortable in doing so. The more people we have on the list, the better!
If you’re interested in becoming a media volunteer, download and fill out the form from our website and email the completed form to our Advocacy & Communications Manager, Paddy McGeoghegan, on pmcgeoghegan@epilepsy.ie. Paddy will then get in touch then to discuss adding you to the list.
Like and share with your friends!
In the lead up to #EpilepsyDay, we will be sharing posts across our social media channels to raise awareness of epilepsy. By liking and sharing, you can help our messages reach your friends and followers – helping us educate even more people about epilepsy! So if you see our awareness raising posts - be sure to give us a like and share; it can go a long way!
Thank you for helping spread awareness of epilepsy in advance of #EpilepsyDay – we really appreciate your support! Together, we can achieve a society where no person's life is limited by epilepsy.
