While International Epilepsy Day which takes place in February is our headline, public-facing awareness day of the year, National Epilepsy Week has grown in prominence in recent years and is another vital platform to raise awareness of epilepsy in Ireland.
The week is more central to the awareness raising efforts for our colleagues in the UK, and it seen as the central focus of their awareness raising initiatives for the year. However, Epilepsy Ireland always take part in the week to help raise awareness in Ireland as well.
Taking place annually towards the end of May, primarily, we use the week to share stories on our social media channels from those living with epilepsy, to help support others living with epilepsy at various stages of their journey with the condition.
Often the week features contributions from our incredible Media Volunteers who share their lived experience of epilepsy. Would you like to become a media volunteer? Find out more by visiting the ‘Become a Media Volunteer’ page on our website.
