Providing people with epilepsy (and their families) the techniques they need to assist in the effective self-management of the condition is an important aspect of the services we deliver.
Developing these techniques can help people overcome some of the challenges which epilepsy can bring, while also helping them to better understand the condition.
Our key self-management offerings are as follows:
- Epilepsy Education Session for those newly diagnosed (seperate offerings for newly diagnosed adults and parents/carers of newly diagnosed children)
- Self-Management Programme for adults with epilepsy
- Stress-Management Workshops (separate offerings for adults with epilepsy and parents/carers)
- Mid-Morning Mindfulness
Each of these offerings are outlined in further detail within this section of our website.
Please note that with all these offerings (excluding the Epilepsy Education Sessions), it is important that there has been previous contact with your local Community Resource Officer (CRO) as at particular points in your journey with epilepsy, individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting. CROs can also keep you informed on when new dates are added for these events.
Due to competing priorities within Epilepsy Ireland – and demand for these events – not every event will be advertised in external communications such as our social media channels or our monthly email update. Provided there is spaces available within these offerings, they will also be added to the events section of our website – so please regularly check this section to see the latest offerings.
If you would like to contact your local Community Resource Officer, you can find their details by visiting the ‘Our Local Service’ page on our website.
