Mid-Morning Mindfulness

Epilepsy can be a condition that causes the mind to race and common bywords of living with the condition are stress & anxiety – be it as a person with epilepsy or as a family member or carer of a person with epilepsy.

These Mindfulness sessions with our Community Resource Officer, Cliona Molloy, will help you discover the technique of mindfulness to help you better manage some of the challenges that can be associated with epilepsy (like the ones mentioned above) and will encourage you to pause and check in with yourself through a blend of self-care activities and techniques.

With regular practice, mindfulness can support you in becoming more self-aware, recognise the challenges you are facing and learn how to respond in a helpful way. It can also help you to reconnect with and enjoy the everyday experiences we so often take for granted.

About this event

This event is offered jointly to adults with epilepsy and parents/carers of people with epilepsy. In order to ensure the best experience and maximum participation, numbers are limited. The sessions are advertised in 6-week blocks and on advertising, we will ask attendees to commit to attending the full six week block in order to get a greater understanding of mindfulness and whether it makes an impact on their journeys with epilepsy.  The events are offered online and future offerings will be added to our website. Visit the 'Events' section for more information and details of all our upcoming events.

Remember..

With this programme, it is important that there has been previous contact with your local Community Resource Officer. It is important that there has been previous engagement in order for us to best facilitate the experience for all attending the support group. At particular points in your journey with epilepsy, individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting. If you would like to contact your local Community Resource Officer, you can find their details by visiting the ‘Our Local Service’ page on our website.

I learnt to give myself self-love and be kind to my thoughts. I found this experience to be most helpful in my mind and I was able to know more about myself and got the strength to move forward in my life with my choices and not anybody else’s. I also felt it a very safe place and everyone on the group were lovely too and friendly.
