As epilepsy is a lifelong condition, knowing how to effectively self-manage the condition is crucial when navigating your journey with epilepsy.
Being an active self-manager means a person can take on skills and actively participate in the management of the condition and learn to improve quality of life while living with the condition. Effectively self-managing the condition can bring several benefits for living a full life with epilepsy.
Because we believe in the benefits of self-managing the condition, Epilepsy Ireland offers a Self-Management Programme both for adults with epilepsy.
Facilitated by our Community Resource Officer team, the sessions provide an opportunity to meet fellow members of the epilepsy community; learn about epilepsy management and why this is important.
About this Programme
In order to ensure the best experience and maximum participation, numbers for this event are limited. There are three sessions in total. When advertising the event, we will ask you to commit to attending all the sessions. The events are offered online and future offerings will be added to our website. Visit the 'Events' section for more information and details of all our upcoming events.
Remember..
With this programme, it is important that there has been previous contact with your local Community Resource Officer. It is important that there has been previous engagement in order for us to best facilitate the experience for all attending the support group. At particular points in your journey with epilepsy, individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting. If you would like to contact your local Community Resource Officer, you can find their details by visiting the ‘Our Local Service’ page on our website.
I learnt so much from this course. It gives me huge hope, with a holistic approach, there are more ways to help prevent seizures as well as medication. The course increased my motivation to change bad habits. it reinforced for me the benefits previous changes I had made that increased my confidence, lessening anxiety, and feelings of being overwhelmed with the uncertainty of having a seizure. The course has given me the necessary push to keep trying with this. The group gave me the space and understanding to talk freely.
