The 45 for Epilepsy Challenge is an annual fundraising campaign run by Epilepsy Ireland which aims to raise awareness of the 45,000 people who live with epilepsy in Ireland and to raise funds for the vital services we provide for people with epilepsy, their families and the wider community across Ireland.

This year the challenge will return, commencing on the week of the 22nd September. Will you take part and help continue our work on the behalf of the 45,000 people living with epilepsy? Stay tuned for the official launch of the 2025 45 for Epilepsy Challenge in mid August!

History of the Challenge

The challenge first began in 2023, where challenge participants were asked to devise a challenge around the number 45 – with some participants completing 45 star jumps or push ups a day and many more inventive challenges in-between - raising over €9,200.

In 2024, we asked participants to take on the mammoth task of running or walking 45km across a week. Their incredible efforts raised over €21,000 in support of our work!

All the funds raised by challenge participants has helped continue our journey towards a society where no person’s by epilepsy by supporting our:

  • Support and Information services
  • Training and Education programmes
  • Awareness and Advocacy campaigns
  • Investment in Irish epilepsy research

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the 45 for Epilepsy Challenge to date and thank you in advance to everyone who will support the 2025 iteration of the challenge.

Together, we can achieve a society where no person's life is limited by epilepsy.
