We are Triple Locked!

We are pleased to have received confirmation that we have retained our Triple Lock status for 2026.

The Triple Lock is awarded by the Charities Institute of Ireland and the symbol highlights charities that uphold the highest standards of transparency, governance, and fundraising ethics. It ensures the public, donors, and beneficiaries that they can trust that the organisations with this symbol operate with professionalism, integrity, and openness.

This is the ninth year in a row that Epilepsy Ireland have retained the Triple Lock standard. Last year, only 166 Charities were awarded the Triple Lock, roughly 1% of all Charities in Ireland - and we were very proud to be one of them. We are very pleased to have retained the standard for the year ahead.

We hold the Triple Lock Status alongside our Improving Quality mark – another accolade for our organisational policies and Governance procedures. You can learn about the Triple Lock and IQ quality mark by visiting the ‘Governance’ section of our website.

With hundreds of people across Ireland currently taking part in our March Walking Challenge - to raise funds to help continue our work - the Triple Lock and IQ mark provide reassurance and confidence to our donors and funders that the correct processes are in place when it comes to raising and using funds.

With over 45,000 people living with epilepsy in Ireland, we are here to help support people with epilepsy and their families on their journey with the condition; work within communities to provide education and support about the condition; raise awareness and increase understanding of the condition amongst the public; advocate for policy changes that will help to improve the lives of people with epilepsy and their families; and to invest in Irish epilepsy research to build knowledge on the condition.

Our services are depended upon by people across Ireland, as the below quote from our service user Paula shows:

"Following the onset of Leo’s epileptic activity, I entered a period of grief. I grieved the life before. I grieved the future I had imagined for him, and quietly, I grieved for myself. Sleep became fragmented and anxious. I immersed myself in online epilepsy forums, searching for answers, reassurance, certainty, not realising at the time that epilepsy is deeply individual and that no two journeys look the same. In hindsight, this only intensified my fear.

"It was during this time that I connected with Epilepsy Ireland. One of their wonderful Community Resource Officers provided the emotional and educational support I had been searching for in all the wrong places, grounding me, informing me, and reminding me that we were not alone."

With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate any support you can give to help continue our work across Ireland. Every donation made will help continue our overall journey towards a society where no person’s life is limited by epilepsy. We would like to thank all our members, volunteers and supporters for their continued support and the Charities Institute of Ireland for recognising our good governance structures by renewing our Triple Lock status.

In the meantime, if you need any support or information around your or your family member’s journey with epilepsy, do not hesitate to get in touch with your local Community Resource Officer. You can find their details by visiting the 'Our Local Services' section of our website.
