We are very pleased to be attending the European Epilepsy Congress in Greece next week to showcase the message of TIME, SAFE, STAY to colleagues across the globe.
The European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) is the largest scientific and clinical conference on epilepsy in Europe. It is organised every two years by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) and brings together neurologists, epileptologists, researchers, nurses, psychologists, allied healthcare professionals, and epilepsy organisations to share the latest developments in epilepsy care and research
Epilepsy Ireland were invited to speak about the development of TIME, SAFE, STAY and to share our perspectives on building this incredibly important public-health message as part of a wider session entitled “Time is Brain: Rapid Response to Seizure Emergencies in Everyday Non-Medical Settings.”
The session will see us join with European colleagues discussing a range of key perspectives in epilepsy awareness initiatives across the continent. This includes colleagues from Finland, Czechia and the Netherlands – with the session also having another Irish connection, being co-chaired by the International Bureau of Epilepsy CEO, Donna Walsh. As our members, supporters and volunteers will know, TIME, SAFE, STAY are the key words we have been promoting since 2021 to help educate the wider Irish public on the correct response to seizures in a public setting. Since the adoption of TIME, SAFE, STAY – and from market research measuring its impact – we have seen a significant uptake and recall in this message from the Irish public.
This would not be possible without the incredible support of our members, supporters and volunteers who have become champions for the adoption of this message and have shared their stories of life with epilepsy to help amplify it even further amongst their communities.
