From our years of serving the epilepsy community, we know how the condition has its own unique challenges for the individuals living with it. Not only is epilepsy individual, but the journeys that people experience can differ in many ways.
As a person progresses on their journey with epilepsy, they learn more about the condition and can unfortunately experience barriers owing to their condition. As a person navigates these barriers, what can be beneficial is hearing from others who may be in a similar situation or who may have direct experience of what a person may be going through.
This is why we offer Support Groups for adults living with epilepsy. The groups allows people living with the condition to discuss their experiences with epilepsy in a safe and secure environment, alongside others who may have direct experience of what they may be going through – and who may potentially be able to offer their own insights and advice on how they navigated certain challenges or experiences.
The support group also allows people to meet with others who are living with epilepsy and form connections as they continue their journey with the condition. The support group will also be attended by local Community Resource Officer, Pam O'Brien, who will be on hand to offer further information and support around epilepsy to all those in attendance.
