Self-Management Programme for Parents of Children with Epilepsy 10.4.24

Parents holding child's hands
10 Apr 2024

We are delighted to be hosting a Self-Management Programme for Parents of Children with Epilepsy from April 10th to May 1st.

The programme is commonly known as STEPS within our services, as with each passing week of attending the programme, attendees can build on the STEPS taken to better self-manage their  child's condition. As a person progresses on their individual journey in supporting a child with epilepsy, learning how to help that child effectively self-manage their condition is a vital skill to learn to help prevent epilepsy from being a barrier to their lives.

There are several key objectives to our STEPS programme, which include:

  • Meeting other parents of children with epilepsy and providing a platform to learn from one another.
  • Learning more about how to manage your child's Epilepsy.
  • Gain a better understanding Epilepsy -
  • Managing your child's safety -
  • Learning about the potential effects and impacts of Epilepsy
  • How to talk to your child about epilepsy
  • How to support your child in education and school

If you are interested in learning more about how to improve your  self-management of your child's  epilepsy, please come along and join us for our latest STEPs offering. Further details about the programme and how to register are outlined below and if you have any further questions about this event, please get in touch with our Community Resource Officer Pam O'Brien, by emailing pobrien@epilepsy.ie
