As epilepsy is a lifelong condition, knowing how to effectively self-manage the condition is crucial information to know when navigating your journey with epilepsy.
Being an active self-manager means a person can take on skills and actively participate in the management of the condition and learn to make life better even with the condition. This can bring several benefits for living a full life with epilepsy.
For these reasons and many more, Epilepsy Ireland offers a Self-Management Programme for Adults with Epilepsy. This three-session programme will provide a learning environment alongside others living with epilepsy to learn more about the importance of self-management and how it can help you on your journey with epilepsy. Specific objectives of the programme are as follows:
- Meet others who have epilepsy and learn from one another
- Find out more about how to manage your epilepsy
- Learn about each aspect of epilepsy management
- Undertake actions which improve self-management
- Learn strategies for developing overall wellbeing
- Become confident in managing epilepsy
