Our Community Resource Officers Agnes Mooney, Edel Killarney & Mary Baker are planning on organising an online STEPS programme for parents of children with epilepsy over the coming weeks.

STEPS is a self-management programme we offer to help parents become the experts in managing their child’s epilepsy in a supportive, non-judgemental environment alongside other parents in a similar situation. Over a 6-week period you will be given information and advice on understanding epilepsy, managing safety, understanding your child's needs, medications and the medical system - alongside so much more. The overall aim is to make you feel more confident and comfortable with your child's diagnosis to help ensure that you can support them on their journey with epilepsy.

Our team hope to offer the programme beginning in the Autumn however, the programme does work best when there is a larger group. This way, you can learn from other parents' experiences and questions.

Therefore, if you are a parent of a child with epilepsy within the North-West, North-East or the West (Donegal, Sligo, Monaghan, Cavan, Louth, Meath, Mayo, Roscommon & Galway) and would be interested in taking part in this programme, please email Edel on ekillarney@epilepsy.ie to register your interest.

Agnes, Edel & Mary will then be in touch with further details should there be significant interest on such a programme being organised within the area.

If you are from outside the areas listed above and would like to have a STEPS programme organised in your region, please contact your local Community Resource Officer.
