From our years of serving the epilepsy community, we know how the condition has its own unique challenges for individuals living with it, as well as for the parents/carers who support their loved ones with the condition. Not only is epilepsy individual, but the journeys that person living with epilepsy and their families experience can differ in many ways.
In supporting a person with epilepsy on their journey, there can be many questions as you aim to support your loved one with this part of their life. As they enter new phases of their life, there can be changes to their condition and new challenges that can arise. From our engagement with parents/carers of people with epilepsy, we know how many can benefit from hearing the experiences of other parents/carers in a similar situation who have experience of supporting a loved one who is living with the condition.
This is why we offer Online Meet Ups for parents/carers who are supporting their loved one who is living with epilepsy. These Meet Ups allow parents/carers to meet with each other and share their experiences, as well as offering insights and advice on how they are supporting their loved one’s journey with epilepsy. In addition, they allow for parents/carers of someone who may be newly diagnosed to hear from parents/carers who now have an established diagnosis for some time which can be very helpful for those who are new to the condition.
Members of the Epilepsy Ireland Community Resource Officer team will also be in attendance to offer further information and support around epilepsy to all those joining. We look forward to welcoming you to the event on the day.

Those wishing to attend this meet up must have previously engaged with their local Community Resource Officer. It is important that there has been previous engagement in order for us to best facilitate the experience for all attending the meet up. At particular points in your journey in supporting a loved one living with epilepsy, individual direct support from our team may be more appropriate rather than a group setting.
