The Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys TD, has committed to meeting Epilepsy Ireland to further discuss our proposals around access to Free Travel Passes for people with epilepsy.
The Minister confirmed her intention to meet with us when being questioned in the Dáil yesterday on the ongoing campaign by Deputies Aindrias Moyihan & Jennifer Carroll MacNeill.
We look forward to meeting with the Minister on this matter and stress the need for the necessary amendments to be made to the Free Travel scheme to help overcome the unique accessibility issues which face people with epilepsy and their families. This is something we have outlined to the Minister and her Government colleagues as part of our pre-budget submission on this matter.
Thank you to everyone who has been raising this matter with their local TDs and Senators. This has helped draw further attention to this longstanding issue. If you would like to contact your local TD on this matter, a template letter is included at the end of this article.
As soon as we have further updates on this matter, we will share them on our website and social media channels.
