Over the last number of years, we have been running mindfulness sessions for people with epilepsy and their families. Epilepsy can be a condition that causes the mind to race and common bywords of living with the condition are stress & anxiety – be it as a person with epilepsy or as a family member or carer of a person with epilepsy.
For many people we have supported through these sessions, the practice of mindfulness in day-to-day life with epilepsy has helped to counteract some of the challenges the condition can bring.
These sessions we run are offered in 6-week blocks and are a continued offering – we have seasoned attendees who are very familiar with the practice of mindfulness and the positive impact it can have.
The nature of the programme being offered in a 6-week block means the sessions are not suitable for people who may have heard about mindfulness and are interested in learning more about the practice and how it can potentially benefit them. This is why we have arranged this special ‘Mindfulness for Beginners’ workshop – for both adults living with epilepsy, and parents/carers of those living with the condition.
Delivered by our Community Resource Officer, Cliona Molloy, this session will cover:
- An introduction to Mindfulness
- Guided meditation and type of mindful practices
- Practical applications of mindfulness which can be applied in day-to-day life & how to practice mindfulness from home
- Discussion/Q&A
We look forward to welcoming to you to this Mindfulness for beginners session – you can further information on how to register below.
