We are delighted to be hosting a special event for women with epilepsy on planning a pregnancy, pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding.
At this event, we will be joined by Sinéad Murphy, Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) and Pauline McLoughlin, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), with a particular personal interest in epilepsy. We will also be joined by a woman with epilepsy who will share her journey from pregnancy through to motherhood.
The event will provide useful information, support, a sense of community and will answer questions that will assist women that will assist women in managing their epilepsy while embracing the joys and challenges of pregnancy and motherhood while covering key topics such as:
- Understanding Epilepsy During Pregnancy: Learn about the importance of managing seizure pre and post pregnancy.
- Medications & Treatment Options: Explore the best approaches for managing epilepsy while pregnant, including which medications are currently considered safe
- Postpartum Care for Women with Epilepsy: Guidance on seizure management after childbirth together with practical advice navigating your journey into motherhood.
- Breastfeeding with Epilepsy: Address any concerns about the safety of breastfeeding while on epilepsy medications and offer tips for a supportive breastfeeding journey.
There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers as part of this event. If you are a women with epilepsy who is planning a pregnancy, pregnant, postpartum, or planning to breastfeed, please come along to what is sure to be an informative event!
