Online Creative Workshop for Siblings of Children with epilepsy 16.1.23

16 Jan 2023

Epilepsy is a condition that can affect the entire family unit. When caring for a child with epilepsy – especially where the condition is complex - there can be a knock-on impact for that child's young siblings.

This workshop will allow children of siblings with epilepsy to participate in online fun, games, and discussion – with other children who also have a sibling with epilepsy. Through this, they will not only have fun but also have an opportunity to discuss concerns they might have about their sibling’s long-term health condition – alongside other children in a similar situation to them.

These event can be extremely beneficial to a child's siblings, as the below feedback from a parent of a previous attendee outlines:

My daughter really enjoyed last night, she had great fun. She would love to do the next sibshop. I think it's so important to give siblings opportunities to discuss challenges they have in forums like this so thank you!

This event is specifically for children who are living with a sibling with epilepsy but is limited to a max of 8 places to allow every child to participate fully in the online activities.  This event is being facilitated by our Community Resource Officer for the West, Catherine Caffrey, who is a trained ‘Sibshop’ facilitator.
