New resources for students with disabilities

Ahead has produced new resources for students with disabilities who are due to start college or who areconsidering applying to college in the future. These resources are especially suitable for students who are visual learners or who have specific learning difficulties.

Video

The first resource is an animated video entitled "Read the Rules" which explains in a fun and simplified way what supports are available in college, who to contact to get support and how to access college services. It explains what a disability support service in college can offer to a new student and why it is a good idea to register with the disability service and receive support. It also gives 5 top tips on college life, how college services work and how to get a balance between study and social life.

 Infographic

The second resource is for students who may be considering applying to college. It is in the form of an infographic or poster type chart which gives a visual signpost to the pathwaysinto third level, how they can be accessed, what supports are available and importantly key datesfor applications and deadlines. The infographic has also a text version available in the Access Success Guide.
