Gerry Tobin: RIP

Last Updated:

Epilepsy Ireland is saddened to announce the death of Gerry Tobin while taking part in the Annual Tour De Gaggs cycle, an annual fundraiser on behalf of Epilepsy Ireland.

Gerry was an enthusiastic cyclist who participated in the event for the last 5 years. The cycle was an unmissable weekend in Gerry's calendar and he made many friends in the Gaggs peloton over the years. He died from a suspected heart attack on Saturday afternoon on the Ennis to Galway road.

Gerry, who was from Clonsilla, Dublin is survived by his wife Mariea, sons Derek and Mark. Mariea and Mark were also taking part in the cycle last weekend.

Mark has paid a moving tribute to his father: "Gerry died doing something he loved, surrounded by people he loved. We know we'll struggle without him but we'll do our best to celebrate him in the way he deserves. He was a wonderful father, an amazing husband and a great friend to everyone he knew. If Gerry made an impact on you and you have a few spare quid, I know he'd love if you helped support Epilepsy Ireland."

It is deeply touching that even at this sad time, Gerry's family continue to support his long standing efforts on behalf of Epilepsy Ireland.

Everybody at Epilepsy Ireland would like to pass on our deep condolences to Mariea, Mark and all of Gerry's family and friends.
