Epilepsy is a neurological disorder which affects the brain and it is a tendency to have repeated seizures. It is estimated that there are more than 45,000 people living with epilepsy in Ireland, meaning it is one of the most common neurological conditions in the country. It is very likely that a person will need key information about epilepsy and need to know what to do should someone experience a seizure.
Being able to identify a seizure and understanding challenges that may face a person living with the condition is also crucial information to know.
As part of National Epilepsy Week, our community resource officer Cliona Molloy will host a talk on epilepsy awareness in Ballymahon Library in Longford to equip attendees with information on how to support someone living with epilepsy. The session will go through key information about epilepsy as well as how best to support a person living with epilepsy. The event will also signpost attendees to services that are available to both people who live with epilepsy and their parents/guardians.
We look forward to welcoming you to this upcoming epilepsy awareness session.
