An epic fundraising cycle in memory of the late Shane Corrigan was officially launched over the back holiday weekend.

Shane Corrigan sadly passed away from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy in 2018. In August of this year, Shane’s friends and family will be aiming to complete a mammoth challenge in his memory to raise funds for both Epilepsy Ireland and our colleagues in SUDEP Action.

Cyclists – ranging from beginners, novice, intermediate and expert – will be aiming to cycle all the way from London to Achill Island.

From an Epilepsy Ireland perspective, it is hoped that the funds raised from the epic cycle will enable the SUDEP and Safety Toolkit to be launched in Ireland in 2022. This renowned resource which has been developed by SUDEP Action will undoubtedly help to prevent future SUDEP related deaths in Ireland.

The cycle is set to begin on the 20th of August with the cyclists set to land on Irish shores on the 24th of August.

We look forward to welcoming the cyclists to Ireland in the summer. However, we would love to have as many people as possible welcoming them along their route or joining with them for part of their route. If you are interested in supporting the Cycle for Shane, please email fundraising@epilepsy.ie and our team will be in touch.
