National Epilepsy Week

People putting hands in together

While International Epilepsy Day is our headline, public-facing awareness day of the year, National Epilepsy Week has grown in prominence in recent years and is another vital platform to raise awareness of epilepsy in Ireland.

The week is more central to the awareness raising efforts for our colleagues in the UK, and it seen as the central focus of their awareness raising initiatives for the year. However, Epilepsy Ireland always take part in the week to help raise awareness in Ireland as well. Primarily, we use the week to share stories on our social media channels from those living with epilepsy to raise awareness in the public  and to help support others living with epilepsy at various stages of their journey with the condition.

This year, the week takes place from May 20th - 26th and we are now appealing for stories to share during the week, showing the lived experience of epilepsy. Your story can be whatever you want it to be and we will work with you to help give it a platform on our channels.

If you would like to get involved in the awareness raising efforts associated with National Epilepsy Week, please email our Advocacy & Communications Manager Paddy McGeoghegan on pmcgeoghegan@epilepsy.ie.

In this section of our website, you can also see key highlights of previous Epilepsy Ireland #EpilepsyWeek campaigns, which may provide inspiration for the story you would like to tell!
