Sodium Valproate (Epilim) Inquiry delays raised in the Dáil

In the Dáil last week, Deputy Marian Harkin raised the ongoing delays surrounding details of the promised inquiry into the historical licensing and prescribing of Sodium Valproate (Epilim) in Ireland.

The Minister for Health, Deputy Stephen Donnelly confirmed in Novemeber 2020 that such an inquiry would be established after years of campaigning by OACS Ireland and Epilepsy Ireland. Unfortunately, there has been little detail ever since on the proposed inquiry. You can watch Deputy Harkin's contribution on this in the video below.

Thank you to Deputy Harkin for raising this most important mater. We will continue to campaign for an inquiry to be established as soon as possible. You can help support our campaign on this matter by contacting your local TD. You can read further details on this and on Sodium Valproate as a whole by clicking HERE.

**Women and girls should not stop taking valproate without first discussing it with their doctor. More information can be found at www.epilepsy.ie or by calling Epilepsy Ireland at 01 4557500. OACS Ireland can be contacted via www.oacsireland.com.**
