Epilepsy Ireland would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who took the time to complete our recent survey on “Priorities for Epilepsy Research.”
With the new round of Epilepsy Ireland’s Research Funding Scheme set to open in the coming months, this survey was distributed to establish which areas person’s with Epilepsy would like to see investigated and whether there is an appetite for continued spending on research.
The key results of the survey are as follows:
-82% of respondents strongly agree that it is important that Epilepsy Ireland continue to invest in research on the condition
-The top three areas which respondents would like to see investigated are:
3) Technology & Assistive Technology
A key objective of Epilepsy Ireland is "to undertake, encourage, fund and communicate research into the causes of, cures for and management of epilepsy and into the social and psychological effects of the condition".
Therefore, the feedback from this survey is crucially important and will be included as part of the upcoming research funding application process as we look to the future and work towards achieving a society where no person’s life is limited by Epilepsy.
Further details of our Research Funding Scheme application process will be posted on our website here and on our social media channels in the coming months.
