Epilepsy Ireland supports SUDEP Awareness Day

Epilepsy Ireland is pleased to support SUDEP Awareness Day (October 23rd ) an annual event aimed at raising awareness of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.

SUDEP is defined as "sudden unexpected, witnessed or unwitnessed, non-traumatic and non-drowning death in an individual with epilepsy, with or without evidence of a seizure and excluding documented status epilepticus where post-mortem examination does not reveal a cause for death.

This awareness day is the brainchild of SUDEP Action and is part of the call for openness campaign that has attracted global support. Resources and information about how you can get involved in the 2016 campaign are available on the official website: www.sudepawarenessday.org.
