'28-01-2017 | New educational videos for children launched ahead of International Epilepsy Day' image

International Epilepsy Day (www.epilepsy.org) is the biggest awareness day promoted by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE). The event aims to promote awareness of epilepsy on the second Monday of February every year in over 120 countries worldwide including Ireland.

This year's #epilepsyday has a special story for children in schools highlighted by the animated character Campi. Campi is a little seahorse who has epilepsy and has an epileptic seizure in school, before visiting the doctor with his parents.

The seahorse is genus Hippocampus and its shape resembles a part of the brain that has the same name and is important in producing seizures and epilepsy.
