Share your story and raise awareness of epilepsy

One of Epilepsy Ireland's key objectives is "To improve public understanding of epilepsy, in order to eliminate fear and prejudice, through awareness campaigns and education programmes".

Where possible, we work with the media to improve public understanding of epilepsy. The best way to explain epilepsy in the media is by enabling people with epilepsy and their families to tell their own story about how living with epilepsy affects them.

Everyone affected by epilepsy has a unique story. By sharing your own personal experience you can help tackle the stigma and misunderstanding that surrounds epilepsy and offer hope to people and families in a similar situation to you. Hearing about your experiences can also encourage other people to get in touch and find the support they need.

We want to raise awareness of epilepsy by using the media, but to do so; we need willing volunteers of all ages, both sexes and from all areas of the country to help by telling their own story publicly.
