The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) has advised that Tegretol Retard 200 mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets, an anticonvulsant used in the management of epilepsy, is currently out of stock. They have indicated that supply should resume on the 16th January when the product should available from the wholesalers.

There is no shortage of Tegretol Retard 400 mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets. Individuals who take Tegretol Retard 200 mg can be supplied with Tegretol Retard 400 mg and then split the tablet in half. (The tablets have a score line on each side and can be safely divided into equal halves as described in the approved SmPC available on the HPRA website.)

If you have any concerns you should contact your Doctor or a health professional for advice.
