Training For Success (TFS), Epilepsy Ireland's Training Programme was announced as the winner of the 2013 AONTAS Star Award - Nationwide Category - at a ceremony launching the AONTAS Learners Festival.

115 projects were nominated in total, covering the four provinces and the fifth category "Nationwide". Of the 14 Nationwide projects nominated 5 were shortlisted.

Current student Denise O'connell (pictured holing the Star Award) said in accepting the award on behalf of Training For Success

"When I was at school all they saw was my epilepsy and not my potential and I wasn't given a chance. Being on TFS was the first opportunity I had to be treated as a unique individual. I intend to do a degree in Event Management and plan to set up my own business"

Training For Success run in partnership with the Institute of Technology, Sligo is the only course of its kind in Europe.

Paul Sharkey, Epilepsy Ireland's Training & Communications Manager said the award was a mark of recognition for the commitment of TFS staff and all the 180 students who attended over the years. It is this partnership that has made TFS the success it is.

Congratulations to all involved.
