The annual Barrack Hill Ball run in Cobh took place on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd August 2010. Brainwave was one of the two charities to benefit this year along with Head and Neck Oncology unit at the South Infirmary Hospital, Cork.

Over 6,000 numbered balls were sold for €2 in advance of the day and at 4pm, they were all released from the top of Barrack Hill, with the owner of the first ball to reach the bottom declared the winner. Cork hurling legend and winner of three All-Ireland medals, Willie John Daly pulled the lever to release the balls.

This year's event featured an afternoon packed full of family entertainment and was enjoyed by a record attendance of over 700 people, including former World Athletics Champion Sonia O'Sullivan and her daughter Sophie (pictured below).

It was the fourth year of the event which continues to go from strength to strength. Our sincerest thanks to the organisers, Councillor Paddy Histon and Jim Sheeley for their ongoing support of Brainwave and to everyone who supported the event this year.
