Despite the fact that there are over 700,000 people in Ireland living with neurological conditions (including 37,000 people with epilepsy), we continue to lag far behind other European countries for many aspects of neurological care. Strikingly, there is still no overall plan within our health system to invest in and develop neurological care.
The Neurological Alliance of Ireland, the umbrella group of over 30 neurological charities including Brainwave has launched a campaign calling for the development of a National Programme for Neurological Care in Ireland, which would prioritise planning and investment in services for people with neurological conditions.
