Accounts Assistant (Part-Time & Temporary)

Epilepsy Ireland was established in 1966 and is the national organisation working for people with epilepsy and their families. Our vision is to achieve a society where no person's life is limited by epilepsy. Our work encompasses:

  • Information, training and support services for people with epilepsy and their families, delivered from head office in Dublin and 10 regional offices
  • Education and training for health professionals
  • Raising awareness and improving public understanding of epilepsy
  • Advocating on behalf of people with epilepsy
  • Funding and supporting epilepsy research

Reporting to: Finance Manager

Location: Epilepsy Ireland, 249 Crumlin Road, Dublin 12

Primary Duties:

Tasks will include but not limited to:

  • Keeping and compilation of up-to-date financial records and supporting documentation for the organisation
  • Posting and coding of sales and purchase invoices through the Exchequer system.
  • Reconciling supplier accounts to supplier statements.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and audit.
  • Managing & maintaining the centralised training system in conjunction with the Training Manager & the Community Resource Officers.
  • Processing and allocating training receipts and liaising with the Training Manager on overdue accounts. Carry out other office duties, as required, including occasional reception cover.
  • Any other duties that may arise as a result of the above requirements and any other duties assigned by the Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Accountant Technician qualification desirable but not essential.
  • A minimum of two years previous accounts experience in an office environment is essential.
  • Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Friendly and professional telephone manner.
  • Knowledge of Exchequer software will be an added advantage.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of confidentiality and the ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Good team player, who has the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Self-starter who can take the initiative and consult where appropriate
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands
  • An interest and working knowledge of the charity sector

Terms & Conditions

This is a part time position of 25 hours per week. This is a temporary position for 6 months. Salary will be commensurate with experience. There are 22 days annual leave pro rata. The role will be subject to Garda vetting and reference checks. Salary commensurate with experience...
