New data (2009) shows that there are 37,000 - 40,000 people with epilepsy in Ireland.

Despite treatment, a sizeable minority (30%) of people with epilepsy continue to have on-going seizures or experience debilitating side effects. These people require support and assistance to cope with their condition, over and above the enormous numbers needing information and support on other levels.
