As part of Brain Awareness Week, Epilepsy Ireland hosted a nurse talk on the transition from paediatric to adult services for teenagers as well as dealing with issues faced by teenagers and how epilepsy may impact on them.

Yvonne Owen, Epilepsy Nurse Specialist facilitated the talk and took us through the process of transitioning from child to adult services. From practical advice on how young people can take on more responsibility for medication to decision making and managing lifestyle issues such as travel, study, stress, sport, driving and socialising.

There was a good mix of parents and young people present on the night. Attendees shared experiences and advice.

We would like to thank all those who attended and Yvonne for delivering an interesting and informative presentation.
