Brainwave – The Irish Epilepsy Association – Shedding a light on epilepsy

The outreach service provided on Wednesdays in the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick is proving to be a very useful office and was availed of by 90 people in 2010.

At the clinic Anna Kelly CRO offers patients attending Dr. Boers (Consultant Neurologist) out-patients clinic on Wednesdays the opportunity of a meeting with her.

Some of the areas covered are explanation of different types of seizures, first aid, lifestyle issues, seizure management and the effective use of a seizure diary. Attention is also given to the social and emotional issues surrounding the diagnosis.
