  • News from the Mid-West in 2016.

 

  • A summary of some of the services delivered in the Mid-West in 2016.
  • 79 toolkits in conjunction with a two hour support session were handed out.
  • 4 Buccal Midazolam sessions were provided
  • 1 STEPS programme with 2 re-unions
  • 1 Parents STEPS programme
  • 67 Chemists were visited throughout the region outlining our services and discussing the impact of Sodium Valproate on women in their child bearing years.
  • 27 Women attended a seminar on Women's issue in Limerick.
  • 5 Women availed of individual sessions with Sinead Murphy Epilepsy Specialist Nurse who has a special interest in women's issues.
  • 4 Teachers/SNA Awareness evenings were held in the region attended by 78 people.
  • 17 Awareness presentations in individual schools throughout the region reaching out to 305.
  • 6 Awareness presentations to other health care organisations followed by toolkit support sessions where appropriate.
  • 1 awareness & toolkit day in Headway.
  • Over 20 people in Thurles attended the organised demonstration along with a question and answer session on epilepsy given by an experienced Epilepsy Specialist Nurse for parents, extended family, crèches and pre-schools.
  • 21 people attended the office for individual sessions.
  • 3 locations throughout the region where individual people were met.
  • Participated in post doctorial study currently being carried out by The Royal College of Surgeons on hospital and community bases services for people with epilepsy.
  • Co-facilitated 7 online support groups.
